Pete Eckert is a blind photographer.
Need I say more?
“Women talk about a glass ceiling. Blind folks face a glass front door. We can look into the workplace but aren’t allowed to enter. I do something else. I slip photos under the door from the world of the blind to be viewed in the light of the sighted.”
His work is damn amazing! He creates photographs through sound, as he says, “Sound gives an image just like light gives an image…My work is a byproduct of learning how to see again using sound.”
He’s truly an inspiration. Feel free to click on the photo to view more!
This Is A Real Thing That Is Really Happening of the Day: Pete and Alisha Arnold are unsure whether they are ready/able to be parents — so they are putting the possible termination of Alisha’s pregnancy to an Internet vote.
From Birth or Not’s “about” page:
Voting is such an integral part of the American identity. We vote on everything. We vote on things ranging from the best singer on American Idol to who the next leader of the free world will be. Wouldn’t it be nice to voice your opinion and have it actually make a difference in the real world? Why not vote on whether to continue or abort an actual pregnancy? Your vote can help a real couple to make a decision on this issue.
After 4chan got whiff of the site, the couple contemplated removing the poll, but decided to leave it up, reiterating their About Page Pledge to allow every vote to count. “For the first time in history, your vote on the topic of abortion will not go unheard,” Pete wrote. “We meant that.”
As of 11/19, the ayes have it.
[thanks bob!]
UPDATE: Gawker has reason to believe this may be a pro-life stunt.
